The Weather Outside Was Frightful

I had recently painted some new backdrops to add a little more variety to my indoor portrait sessions. The day these ladies came over, we had rain, we had sleet, we had snow. But they braved the winter-that-didn't-want-to-end weather, and thankfully the sky got just bright enough as we started shooting that we had good light. It's always an honor when people come for portraits. I know it's not always easy to be in front of the camera, and I have the utmost respect for those that go ahead and let me pose and photograph them. My goal, always, is to produce good photographs of people, pure and simple.

Adorable Photo Recreation

Kim had asked about doing a shoot for her mother to recreate a few photographs of her sister, her niece, and herself. I get excited about those kind of requests. Kim is a talented photographer herself, and has a knack for coming up with things like this! I loved photographing them, but I loved chatting with them even more. They were awesome :) I also loved that they were willing to come to my mid-renovation and normally-full-of-Davises as it we could take advantage of the lovely light. Here are a few of the images we recreated: And my fave from that set: Oh my gosh so cute :D A few more favorites from that day These women were wonderful!

Family Portraits [Midland Michigan]

In 2011, I photographed their kids. The weather was a little different that time, being all Michigan here and everything:  Snow Shoot   Last summer they celebrated their 25th anniversary!   What a good reason for a family shoot :D  I love love. Loved the smiles, loved the laughter even more.  Photographs were taken in July at the beautiful Chippewa Nature Center. Letetia's hair & makeup by stylist Elizabeth Hompstead.

Headshot Session [Rodan + Fields]

I asked Shawna (who is a consultant for Rodan + Fields--the awesome high-quality skincare company) if she'd be interested in meeting up for a headshot session. I'm happy she agreed---I love having someone in front of the camera :) She is absolutely gorgeous, super fun to work with, and it was such a pleasure to meet, chat with, and photograph her.
